The tea ceremony room named “Zuishōan" by the great tea master of Hōunsai retains the unusual layout of three daime tatami mats (three-quarter sized tatami mats) and one standard tatami mat. Its entrance is not a nijiriguchi ('crawl-through' entrance), but rather a full-sized kininguchi that can be passed without stooping. This tea ceremony room is one of the few Genroku-style tea ceremony rooms that remain to this day. After grinding tencha tea into matcha (powdered green tea) with a stone mill, enjoy koicha (strong tea) and usucha (light tea) in the Zuishōan tea ceremony room. The tea ceremony can be enjoyed by anyone, even if this is your first time.
